How I work... Making a commitment to starting counselling sessions can feel daunting, especially if you've never experienced talking therapy before, so it's my role to support you through the process and help you get the most out of your sessions. I use an Integrative approach, based on my Humanistic/Person Centred Diploma qualification, which is tailored to meet the needs of each individual client.
I offer a free 20 minute phone consultation so we can have a chat about what's going on for you at the moment and how talking therapy might help before deciding whether a face to face or online Initial Assessment Appointment would be helpful.
The Initial Assessment Appointment (whether its online or face to face) helps identify the focus of our work and will hopefully provide some practical ideas & strategies to help manage things in the Here & Now. I always suggest allowing up to 90 minutes to give plenty of time to get all the background information (giving an extra 30 minutes of therapeutic time free of charge). We can then decide if it will be helpful to book more sessions to maybe look at some of the factors/life events which have contributed to the current situation to help process and come to terms with this and start to make positive and pro active choices for change.
I like to e mail a range of support materials such as information handouts, worksheets and recommended reading between sessions so clients can try out different activities and strategies for themselves if they choose.
Counselling sessions (face to face and online) cost £60 per hour and £55 for under 18's Payment can be made by BACS or cash before or following each appointment (as agreed beforehand) Sessions cancelled 24 hours in advance will not incur a cancellation charge.
You can choose whether to have an online appointment (usually via What's App Video call) or face to face in my therapy room in Clitheroe.
